Tracking commissions shouldn't be a headache. When you get your very first booking from a new channel, the system won't automatically know what commission they charge. But don't worry! You only have to set this up once, and the system will automatically apply that percentage to all future bookings from that specific channel. Linking these sources also helps you track channel performance beautifully in your reports.
Here is how to quickly set up your channel commission:
1. Open the booking details:
Start by clicking directly on the room in your calendar to open up the full Booking Details.
2. Find or add the source:
Click on the 'Search for Source' field.
- Start typing the name of the marketing source. If it pops up in the results, great. Just select it!
- If itβs a brand-new source and doesn't show up, simply click the 'Add Source' button to create it.
3. Pop in the percentage:
Once the source is linked, click on the 'Commission' field and type in the percentage they charge. If it's a commission-free channel, you can just enter 0.00.
4. Save your setup:
Make sure to save your changes, and then close the window by clicking the 'X' in the top right corner.
A quick tip on updating your rates:
If a channel ever changes their commission structure, just update the percentage on their next booking. The system will automatically use the new rate moving forward, while safely keeping your past bookings recorded with the old percentage.
Just keep in mind that if past bookings were completely missing a commission rate, you'll need to capture those manually.
