What is a GDS?
- A GDS is a computerised network system owned or operated by a company that enables transactions between travel industry service providers, mainly airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and travel agencies.
- When travel agents book accommodation through these systems, they will see property groups represented by "chain codes".
- The four main GDSs globally are Apollo, Worldspan, Galileo and Sabre.
