Track how your channels are performing

If want to see how your booking channels are performing, this tutorial will explain how to generate a PivotTable on Excel that contains the following information for the dates you selected in your report:

  • Total revenue.
  • Average revenue per booking.
  • Average daily rate per booking.
  • Average amount of nights.
  • Average adult occupancy per booking.

Create the PivotTable

Generate the Booking Summary report. Our tutorial 'How to generate a report' will guide you if you need help with this.

  1. Click on a cell (only 1) that has text in it
  2. Select the 'Insert' tab.
  3. Select 'PivotTable'.
  • Click on 'OK' on the pop-up window.

Edit the table contents

  1. Search or scroll to find 'Source'
    Once found:
  2. Click & hold 'Source'
  3. Drag & drop it into the 'Rows' block below.
  1. Search or scroll to find 'Revenue'
    Once found:
  2. Click & hold 'Revenue'
  3. Drag & drop it into the 'Values' block below.
  • Repeat the steps above and drag 'Revenue' to the 'Values' block for a second time.
    This will create a 'Sum of Revenue2' field.

This is what you should see:

  1. Click on the drop-down menu to the right of 'Sum of Revenue2'
  2. Select 'Value Field Settings' from the list

The Value Field Settings window will open.

  1. Select 'Average' from the available list
  2. Click on 'OK'.

You should now see that 'Sum of Revenue2' has changed to 'Average of Revenue2'.

You can now follow the same steps for:

  • 'Avg rate'
  • 'Nights', and
  • 'Adults'

to change these Values fields get the average.

Once done, highlight the fields with numbers on the PivotTable, and format the cells to a number format. Video guidance on how to format numbers in cells on Microsoft Excel

View your results

You should see a report that looks like this when you have followed the steps. This will show you a visual on how your booking channels are performing.
