What type of Rate Discounts can I set up?

This tutorial will give a brief breakdown of what kind of Rate discounts you can create and also give examples of scenarios of where these options might be useful.

Open Rate Discount in Setup.

If you're not sure how to access NB Setup, check this tutorial.

Click on "Add" in order to open the setup page

You will see that you're able to create 6 different kinds of discounts.

It's important to note that all these different types of discounts are setup according to a % of your RACK or STO rate sheet. This is useful if you would like to discount your daily rates according to a specific period of time and/or days of the week.

1. Basic

This type of discount will be used when you would like to override your rates for all dates during a specific period of time. The discount will be valid irrespective of the amount of time before the arrival date of the guest.

2. Early Bird

This discount allows you to offer a discounted rate for guests who book well in advance so that you can start getting more bookings further in advance. The override will only be valid for guests who book a set amount of days BEFORE their arrival.

E.g: You can give your guests a 10% discount if they book 30 days or more from today.

3. Last Minute

You are able to also setup an discount for bookings that are made in the "last minute", or number of days before their arrival. The purpose of this rate discount is to fill up the last available rooms so that you can maximize revenue.

4. Rate Grid

While your default RACK rates will be maintained on a seasonal basis, the Rates Grid allows you to override your rate up/down on a daily basis per room type. When setting up your rate grid it is good to know what your occupancy is so that you can set up your rates for each room accordingly.  

E.g. You can increase and decrease your rates based off of your future occupancy so that you can increase your revenue.

5.  Promo Codes

You may want to run a marketing campaign to your prospective guests in-order to encourage them to book. This could be done via a marketing email to past guests or via a social media post to your followers.

6. Long Stay

You may want to run a long stay discounts that will offer a guest a cheaper rate if they stay for a set amount of nights. This can encourage guests to stay for longer and this could be good for your margins as you would have lower cleaning costs per unit.
