How to Update (Edit) your Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy information is displayed on the NightsBridge booking form and will automatically be updated on certain partner websites, such as Tripadvisor and Expedia, should your property be connected via NightsBridge.

Open the NightsBridge setup and click on Step 4, 'Deposit and Booking Policy'.

Complete your Cancellation Policy

This section will indicate the percentage of the booking total that the guest will forfeit, should they cancel the booking a certain number of days before arrival.
This will generally be a percentage of the deposit or booking total.

Generally, the closer to the arrival date, the more strict the cancellation policy becomes. If you're unsure what your cancellation policy should be, you can click on the 'Use Recommended Policy' button to apply the industry standard policy.

To customise the policy, change the information in the fields according to your needs.

  1. The first rule indicates that should the guest cancel 7 days or less before arrival, they would forfeit 100% of the booking total.
  2. The last rule indicates that should the guest cancel 30 days before arrival, they would forfeit 25% of the deposit.
  • '% of Total' indicates that the guest will forfeit that portion of the booking total.
  • '% of Deposit' indicates that the guest will forfeit that portion of the deposit.
  • The deposit will depend on the rules captured in you deposit policy.

If you always want to enforce a policy regardless of how far in advance they cancel, enter the required percentage and 999 days as your last rule.

Remember:
Since some booking channels take the deposit payment on your behalf, they will be in control of your cancellation policy.
Other booking channels will give you predefined policies that may not match up to what you have setup on NightsBridge.

Enter your specific Terms and Conditions.

Here you can provide your booking terms and conditions, including the cancellation policy.

  • Enter your cancellation policy by clicking in the field and typing in the information.
  • You are able to outline your cancellation conditions and any other Terms & Conditions in this free text field.

Remember that not all booking channels and websites are going to get this information from your NightsBridge Setup. Even when NightsBridge can make this information available to the booking channel, it cannot be enforced that the booking channel uses it.
You will need to review and update the policy with them directly.
