How to set a Child Policy

A child policy enables you to allow certain age groups into particular rooms at a specific rate.

From Home, under the heading 'Policies & Restrictions' select the 'Policies' button. Once there, click the 'Child Policies' tab.

Accommodating children

You can select if you accommodate children or not by clicking a toggle at the top of the Child Policy screen next to the question 'Do you accommodate children?'.

If you do not accommodate children, you can save your settings after this has been set by clicking the 'Save' button at the bottom of your screen.

Set a minimum age

If you have an age limit for your .property, select the tick box next to 'Set a minimum age' under the heading 'Age Limit'. Once you have done this, you will be able to set the age by typing in the minimum age with a number.

If you accept children of all ages you can leave this blank. In this example this property does not accept children aged 0-6 years old.

Age Categories of children

There are 4 ways children (in each age group) can be charged

Click on the drop down arrow next to each age category to select

1. Children can Stay Free

2. Children can Pay % of Sharing Rate

The Sharing Rate is the rate you charge for 1 Adult to stay with 1 other Adult.

You need to enter the percentage amount e.g. 50 and the system will add the percentage symbol.

If for example, the rate for 2 Adults is R800. The Sharing Rate (or Per Person Rate) is R400. In this example, the child would pay 50% of R400 or R200.

3. Children can Pay % of Sliding Scale.

That means the child pays a % of the Adult sliding scale rate, depending on which person they're booked as.

A booking for 2 adults and 2 children makes the children the 3rd and 4th persons.

That means they pay a percentage of the 3rd and 4th person rates as set up in sliding scales.

You need to enter the percentage amount e.g 50%.

If for example, the 3rd person rate is R250 and the 4th person rate is R225. The 1st child will pay 50% of R250 or R125 and the 2nd child will pay 50% of R225 or R112.50.

4. Children can Pay a Fixed Rate

You need to enter the amount that you want them to pay, e.g. 100 and the system will add the currency symbol that applies to your property.

Choose how you want to charge for 1 Adult and 1 Child

You cannot charge less than what you charge for 1 or 2 adults when using the 1 adult and 1 child rule.

There are 4 options for choosing how you want to charge for 1 Adult and 1 Child

Sharing Adult rate + Child Rate: Adult is charged the Sharing rate or Per Person rate and the Child is charged the child rate (as per your child policy).

Single Adult rate + Child Rate: Adult is charged the Single rate (or what 1 person is charged to stay in the room alone) and the child is charged the child rate (as per your child policy)

Two Adults sharing: Adult and the child are charged the Sharing rate (or per person rate) as if they were two adults sharing

Free Child Override (pays Adult): When two people book and one is an adult and the other a child the Per Person Rate will then apply. If three people book and only one were a child, the child would then be free (if the standard child rule is set to "Stays Free").
