How do Expedia payments work?

Expedia has multiple payment methods to best suit your needs and each has a slightly different process,

To know what type of payment the booking was processed on you will need to see the  Booking Notes which payment procedure is applicable to the booking.

Below are the types of Payments and how it works.

Expedia collect can be (EFT or VC)

  • Expedia collect Virtual Cards :   Full payment is made and the card can be processed manually on the activation date.
If you have a payment gateway linked to NightsBridge, the payment will automatically be processed on the day of activation.

  • Expedia collect EFT :  Expedia will take payment and transfer the amount to you via EFT
Expedia will invoice you directly for the commission owed on bookings which you took payment for directly.
You can see these invoices in your Expedia account under the Payments Option.

HotelCollect (Guest card)

  • Your Deposit % on NightsBridge will automatically be deducted, if you have a payment gateway linked to NightsBridge, e.g., PayBridge.
  • You can manually deduct the credit card through your card machine if you don't have a payment linked to NightsBridge

ETP (Expedia traveller preference) Combination of both

  • If you have agreed to move over to ETP then you will have signed a new contract with Expedia, gone through training and then be converted.
  • Payments will either be "Expedia Collects" or "Hotel Collects" and it will show in the Booking Notes which payment procedure is applicable to the booking.
