Samsung
Huawei

Device requirements for NightsBridge Tap

Compatibility checklist

To use NightsBridge Tap, your device needs to:

✔️ be an Android phone or tablet.

✔️ operate on Android version 11 or higher.

✔️ be NFC compatible (tap‑to‑pay capable).

✔️ be connected to stable internet connection (WiFi or mobile network).

If your current device doesn't meet these minimum requirements, we can give you some advice on which device to choose.

What does "Android version 11 or higher” mean?

Since Android is the operating system (the main software), the version simply identifies which version of Android your device is using.

How to check and update you Android version

On the device:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to About phone (Sometimes it’s under System > About phone.)
  3. Look for Android version.
  • If the number is 11 or higher, you’re good.
  • If it’s below 11, try updating to version 11 or higher.

Version 11 or higher gives you the security and technology NightsBridge Tap needs to work properly.

If your phone does not support Android version 11 or higher and cannot update, NightsBridge Tap won’t work on that device.

In that case, it’s better to look at a more compatible device.

What is NFC?

NFC stands for Near Field Communication – but you don’t need to remember this.

Simply put, NFC is a short-range wireless technology that allows two devices to exchange information when they are placed near one another (tapped).

NFC lets your device Tap to connect, like when:

  • paying by tapping your phone.
  • tapping to pair or share with another device.

NightsBridge Tap uses the same safe, short‑range connection so you can tap cards on your device.

How to check and turn on NFC

How to check and turn on NFC

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Use the search bar at the top and type “NFC”.
  3. If NFC appears: Tap it and toggle it on.
  4. If you don’t see NFC in Settings: Your phone likely doesn’t support tap‑to‑pay / NFC.

Note on budget phones:

Some cheaper models (often under R3,000–R4,000) don’t include NFC.

Always:

  • Check the specifications for “NFC”, or
  • Search for “NFC” in Settings before buying.
