1. NightsBridge Online Calendar (BridgeIT)

How to see how many views your property had on online booking channels

NightsBridge is able to present you with data on how views your property has had on online booking channels. This feature is available in the Hits/Statistics tile on Home.

The Hits/Statistics data aims to provide high-level insight into how many people land on your property's online booking page and then proceed to book.
It provides information on how many people visit the page, which sites they are trying to book on, how they use the Booking Engine, and how many people make confirmed online bookings.

Please note:
Agoda, Booking.com and Expedia:
For partner booking channels that provide an extranet (the site where you would manage your listing directly), the hits and statistics information can be seen by accessing the extranet (back office) of the respective booking channel. NightsBridge cannot provide this information for these channels.

Go to 'Hits/Statistics'

Scroll to the 'Insights' section on Home and click on the 'Hits/Statistics' tile.
The Insights page will open on the 'Hits/Statistics' tab.

Select a date range

Use the drop-down menus to select the month and year.
The statistics for the chosen month will automatically appear.

Review the Hits/Statistics for the selected month

The various stages of the online booking process as shown.

  • 1 - Arrived on Landing Page: The user landed on the booking form to check availability.
  • 2 - Rates Shown: Dates have been selected and available room types appear for those dates.
  • 4 - User sent enquiry: The user sent an enquiry via the Booking Engine.
  • 5 - Booking: A booking was made and confirmed.

If you would like to increase conversion - turning lookers into bookers - consider creating a special or package offering discounted rates. The special or package will appear on your Booking Engine and often assists with increasing bookings.

FAQ

  1. Why are my bookings total so low compared to the number of people landing on my page?
    • Not all users who land on your Booking Engine will complete a confirmed booking. Similarly, not everyone who enters a store will always buy something.  Quite often, users want to check pricing and availability for a particular date. They can then view other properties or contact your property directly to enquire.
    • The average conversion rate for bookings made online is 2% - 3%.
NightsBridge clients average between 2% - 5% -this is location and season dependent.
The conversion percentage can be calculated by using the following formula:
number of bookings / number of people landing on the page = conversion rate.
  2. Why am I receiving more bookings through the extranets that the local websites?
    • In general, the extranet channels generate the bulk of the bookings that NightsBridge clients receive. These channels have large marketing budgets, operate internationally, and have a larger number of listed properties which offers users more choice. The extranets also have booking links on TripAvisor. As the largest travel website, Tripadvisor generates a lot digital traffic for the extranets.
    • Many of the local sites have the booking enquiry aspect of their website, while extranets only focus on live availability and confirmed bookings.
  3. Why would my "rates shown" number be higher than the number of people landing on my own website?
    • This would occur when a user checks availability for numerous stay dates, instead of just checking availability for just one.
For example, a guest checks availability for 01 - 03 December. The available rooms don't meet their needs so they change the dates to 03 - 05 December. Since they have not left the booking form and come back, it will not register another hit for the landing page, but they have viewed the rates page more than once, so the "rate shown" will register more than one hit.
  4. Why do some sites not display on "arrival on landing page" or "rates shown"?
    • For websites that use our Booking Engine, we can track everything such as who lands on the page and checks rates. However, for sites that use their own booking form, we can only track who checked availability and booked since that is when NightsBridge servers are accessed for information.
    • The extranet channels are slightly different. NightsBridge can only display how many bookings were made.
This is because extranet channels do not access information from NightsBridge servers - NightsBridge sends information to the extranet periodically. For this reason NightsBridge can only identify when a booking was made, instead of when availability is checked.
